SENSEX SURGES

he benchmark Sensex ended 300 points higher to close at 14,656 and Nifty gained 80 points to close at 4,413.

The top gainers in Sensex were SBI (up 6.2%), HDFC (up 5.5%), Reliance Infrastructure (up 4.7%), Wipro (up 4.4%) and BHEL (up 4.3%).

The largest losers in Sensex were Tata Power (down 3.6%), Maruti Suzuki (down 2.3%), Tata Motors (down 2%), Hindustan Unilever (down 2%) and Hero Honda (down 1.1%).

The BSE Capital Goods Index (up 3.8%): The top gainers in Capital Goods space were Astra Microwave (up 13.3%), Crompton Greaves (up 6.1%), Siemens (up 5%), BHEL (up 4.3%), ABB (up 4%).

The top losers in Capital Goods space were HEG (down 10.4%), Gammon (down 5.2%), Thermax (down 0.9%) and Esab India (down 0.2%).

The BSE Oil & Gas Index (up 3.2%): The top gainers in the Oil & Gas pack were Essar Oil (up 5.3%), MRPL (up 5%), Reliance Industrial (up 4.1%), IOC (up 3.7%) and Gujarat State Petronet (up 3.6%).

The top losers were HOEC (down 1.5%), Jindal Drilling (down 0.8%), Cairn India (down 0.8%), Shiv-Vani Oil & (down 0.6%) and Gujarat NRE (down 0%).

The BSE Bankex Index (up 3.2%): The top gainers in Banking space were Bank of Baroda (up 7.6%), Canara Bank (up 7.4%), PNB (up 7.1%), Federal Bank (up 6.2%) and SBI (up 6.2%).

The BSE IT (up 3%): The top gainers in IT sector were Mphasis (up 4.5%), Wipro (up 4.4%), I-Flex (up 3.7%), Infosys (up 3.5%) and HCL Tech (up 3.4%).

The BSE Metal (up 2.6%): The top gainers in Metal space were JSW Steel (up 8.3%), Ispat Industries (up 4.2%), Tata Steel (up 3.8%), Adhunik Metaliks (up 3.5%) and SAIL (up 2.7%).

The BSE Realty (up 2.3%): The top gainers in Realty space were Anant Raj Industries (up 5.3%), Parsvnath (up 5.2%), Omaxe (up 5%), Peninsula Land (up 4.5%) and Unitech (up 3.4%).

The top losers in Realty sector were Mahindra Lifespace (down 1.4%) and Akruti City (down 0.9%).

The BSE Pharma (up 0.6%): The top gainers in Pharma space were Pfizer (up 4.4%), Astrazeneca Pharma (up 4.3%), Aurobindo Pharma (up 2.9%), Dr Reddy's (up 2.8%) and Torrent Pharma (up 2.4%).

The top losers in Pharma space were Zandu Pharma (down 5%), Emami (down 2.6%), Glenmark Pharma (down 2.6%), Panacea Biotec (down 2.3%) and IPCA Labs (down 1.9%).
